Mint Masterpieces is an annual party that is held in a major Detroit art collector’s home to support Mint Artists Guild and its growth. In 2019, Judge Deborah Geraldine Bledsoe Ford and attorney Jerome Watson opened their art-filled Palmer Woods home to guests who purchased tickets on the evening of Saturday, Oct. 19 from 6 pm-9 pm. They live just across Seven Mile from the Mint Studios in Palmer Park and Judge Ford is herself an artist as is her daughter.
At this “party with a purpose,” guests saw a robust collection of art with work by internationally known artists and some prized Detroit artists. Among them are pieces by Hughie Lee-Smith, Jacob Lawrence, Charles McGee, Henry Heading and Romare Bearden.
“My goal is to have the best eclectic art collection in the world,” Judge Bledsoe Ford told Mint. To learn more about the hosts of the 2019 Mint Masterpieces, click here to read the full post.
Visitors will have the opportunity to bid on original and limited edition art in our silent auction. Surprises, sumptuous food and a take-home gift for VIP guests are also part of the evening which benefits Mint, a youth development, creative careers and community arts nonprofit in Detroit.
